Whereas others look at the big, coherent connections in this world, the main characters of this fairytalelike film, Lisa and Giorgi, learn how to find patterns in very small and subtle observations. The love story makes us aware of the associations in their heart. It is love at first sight when these two young people bump into each other on the pavement in Kutaisi, a city in Georgia. They are so touched that they have forgotten how to behave during a first encounter. Without knowing each other’s name, they agree to meet again the next day, but then an evil eye enchants them. Their bodies change, but their gentle heart remains. During the next days, they regularly meet without being aware of their first, overwhelming connection.
Get ready for a wonderful parable about love and the power of exchange. Between a meandering river and a few charming bars, they do the funniest jobs. Lisa’s open air ice cream bar only attracts a crowd when the FIFA World Cup starts and Giorgi patiently waits until somebody wants to pay for a challenge on the climbing frame or other playground equipment.
The film also involves some little secondary elements, making the whole extremely playful. In the director’s creative findings, both football and cinema are viewed as a life size game. For example, a prominent role in the film’s imagery is reserved for the gesticulation of living legend Lionel Messi, more specifically the big gesture he makes whenever he scores a goal. While you enjoy the beautiful soundtrack, composed by the director’s brother, you don’t know where to look first.
