Warm and raw, this film portrays the power of a “family of choice”. The perspective of the child is not innocent, but it is pure. Powerlessness, softness and unconditional love, complex emotions are plainly tangible here…

Eleven-year-old Lidia grows up during the early eighties in the Chilean desert. She is part of a loving queer family that was driven to the outskirts of a small mining town, because the rest of the town is frightened of them. When a strange disease breaks out, which is allegedly transmitted through the seeing two men who fall in love with each other, the town turns on the family.

The film, which feels rather like a western because of its location, combines raw and realistic imagery with theatrical, surrealistic and baroque elements. The disease AIDS stands for prejudice and ignorance. From the perspective of the child, the film shows the power of love, of loss and injustice. N In some opinions, the movie has something almost Almodóvarian, or a touch of García Márquez. A blessing for the eye and heart.

"It meets hatred head-on with empathy, forcing it to soften, but without letting its guard down when it comes to the uncompromising need for community in the face of severe injustice." - Variety
