A film that takes place in four countries, inspired by true stories and awarded the Amnesty International Award at the film festival in Berlin.

The civil war in Syria. Five people, five stories that intersect. A woman doctor from Aleppo is on the run with her daughter. A Syrian soldier wrestles with the orders he is supposed to follow. A poet tries to flee with his family. A human trafficker loads refugees into inflatable boats, but for a hefty price. Then there’s also the captain of the Greek coast guard.

The director’s choice to use the perspective of different characters is very bold. However, he does not make any personal judgments, but provides the film with unfiltered observation of moral dilemmas. Despite there being no heroes, as a viewer you can empathise with each character and their own questions and frustrations. An engaging and societally relevant portrait of the Syrian refugee crisis.
