Fighting for the rights of Palestinians runs through Jewish-Israeli Noam Shuster-Eliassi’s veins. While anyone may believe they already know everything about the situation in Palestine, her perspective on the matter will shock everyone awake.

Wahat as-Salam – Neve Shalom is a village in occupied Palestinian territory, where Arabs and Jews live together peacefully. Noam and Ranin grow up to become best friends and together they are a symbol of peace. Noam even makes it to the UN, but she discovers a more powerful platform for her activism: stand-up comedy. However, everything the community has built together collapses because of the radicalising government.

The strength of “Coexistence, My Ass!” lies in the authenticity and the unique perspective of Noam Shuster-Eliassi. When discussing the Israel-Palestine question, the perspective of a Jewish Israeli fighting for the rights of Palestinians, is rarely taken into account. The documentary contains much humour, but is also serious and emotional when necessary, because the reality is heart wrenching. This incredibly personal documentary manages to shine new light upon a conflict which everyone believes they already understand.

"An Israeli stand-up comedian turns the hate and anger of her divided homeland into tragicomic humour in this timely, enjoyably irreverent documentary." - The Film Verdict
