Get acquainted with this profound, warm and poetic coming-of-age story from Nigeria. One of the best African films of recent years and the first Nigerian film ever to premiere in Cannes.

In 1993 Nigeria held elections that could end its military dictatorship. The democratic candidate had the upper hand until the regime decided that the result was null and void, leading to mass protests. With this tumultuous backdrop, two brothers go on an unexpected adventure with their father when he takes them on a trip to the capital to demand his overdue salary from his boss.

The film weaves personal elements and the nation’s history into an intimate and authentic story in a beautiful setting and with impressive up close camera work. The film is told from the young children’s perspective and they both steal the show. The camera catches their curiosity and wonder during their first encounter with the big city. The story marks a milestone in their life, namely, a step towards adulthood and an unexpected intimacy with the father they barely know.

"De toon van deze film is ronduit hypnotiserend en de chemie tussen vader en zonen houdt ons tot het einde geboeid." - Andrei Vasilachi
