A delightfully funny but also tender film about stories that are carried across three generations of a family and how life flows and can flow.

Ahmed dreams of developing his career as a pianist in Europe. To the dismay of his family he chases his dream and travels to Austria. There he meets his penal Elisabeth for the first time, and he instantly falls in love with her.  But then destiny forces him to return to Egypt, backhome with his delighted family…

A smooth film with a frivolous tone, a charming story and sympathetic slice-of-life characters. The characters watch football matches on television and listen to popular Egyptian songs, but are also confronted with political unrest, which the film makes tangible using archive films. Above all it’s a film to relax and enjoy, meant to make you leave the cinema smiling.

"Inspired by his parents’ real-life love story across countries, filmmaker Abu Bakr Shawky threads a poignant, if overly sentimental chronicle of the triumphs and tribulations of a family and a country." - Variety
