A wheelchair-bound mother with her son, a pregnant woman with her absent husband and an elderly couple with their grandson live under the same roof. Their stories of sexual oppression are hiding behind the façade.

This film depicts three families in one rundown apartment building. All the inhabitants seem (sexually) frustrated and carry the weight of shattered dreams. These people’s lives intersect all the time and in spite of the social control in the building, everyone has some kind of secret and experiences deep desires. This parable is as erotic as it is surreal.

This poetic film is a candid and razor-sharp portrayal of an overlooked piece of humanity. Because of the colours, special camera movements and surreal dream scenes, ‘Amar Colony’ becomes a unique gem. You can watch this film more than once and still be guaranteed to discover new things.
