Even though this film is about the suffering of queer people, this is far from a doom and gloom story, on the contrary, it is a heart-warming movie.

Lilia returns with her friend to Tunisia for the funeral of her uncle. Finally her family would be able to get to know her girlfriend, but the death of her uncle is surrounded by mystery. Long buried family secrets are finally brought to light…

The plot slowly gives away its secrets. The film makes clear that homosexuality remains a difficult topic in the Arab world. As a viewer, you empathise with the struggle of the protagonist who does not want to to pretend to be she is not, but at the same time you see how secretively they have to go about it. The prejudices surrounding the topic of homosexuality are depicted in a nuanced and careful manner. There is no exaggerated drama, but rather a warm and sincere plea for more acceptance of the queer community. The acting of the mostly female actors is delightful.
