Fourteen-year-old Zeina and her family are among the last remaining in war-torn Damascus, Syria. When a missile strike blasts a gaping hole in their home, they are forced, whether they like it or not, to face the outside world. The opening in the ceiling gives Zeina her first taste of freedom. A world of possibilities opens up for her: she sleeps under the stars and befriends the boy next door. But it isn’t long before the violence in the streets escalates again. Zeina and her parents are forced to leave. But Mutaz, her father, refuses to accept the uncertain life of a refugee and is determined to stay in their home.
