A film about how to handle change – large and unexpected, in body and in soul - where the eternal desert is witness to hidden secrets.

During the transition from 1989 to 1990, the dictatorship in Chile is slowly coming to an end. 15-year-old Celeste celebrates New Year’s Eve together with her parents and their friends. However, when on New Year’s Day Celeste’s world suddenly comes to a standstill, worries about a puppy love fade into the background. In an unstable world, Celeste has to once again find her footing.

A layered and tender film about a young girl who is brutally confronted by various changes. Additionally, the title of the film shows how intelligently the tension between two changing bodies is dealt with. On one hand the body of Celeste, on the other hand, the celestial body that Celeste lives on. The sudden event in the film shakes her world to its core, but also in the desert dark secrets lay buried. If you dig deep into the film you will find an shadow of the turbulent history of Chile. The film makes impressive use of the desert landscape, which symbolises loss and change, as a silent witness.
