De bekende Congoloese gynaecoloog Denis Mukwege zet zich al heel zijn leven in voor vrouwen die slachtoffer zijn van seksueel geweld. Collega-arts Guy-Bernard Cadière, een atheïst die lang niet altijd op één lijn zat met de gelovige Mukwege, ondersteunt zijn humanitaire missie. Beiden, en hun personeel, opereerden vaak letterlijk in de vuurlinie om vrouwen hun gezondheid en waardigheid terug te schenken. Een biografisch portret en aangrijpend verhaal over geweld, zorg en herstel, over menselijkheid en de strijd voor waardigheid.
