The 2001 social crisis in Argentina looms over the heads of the teenage characters like a suffocating curse, where eventually even a naïve puppy love develops into a bloody game.

In the summer of 2001, Argentina descends into a national crisis. Meanwhile, when a newcomer becomes the centre of Diego’s coveted attention, tensions also grow within Natalia’s group of friends. With witchcraft running through her veins, Natalia turns to sinister incantations in order to put herself ahead of this unexpected competition. Everything is at stake.

A psychological coming-of-age story that impressively intertwines the spirit of the times and the economic crisis, with the confusing experience of puberty. The threat of change looms over the characters’ heads like a curse. The cinematography is also excellent, suggestive and evoking a gruesome atmosphere, amplified by the suffocating summer heat in Argentina. A cinematically powerful and bewildering film adaptation of the literary work of Mariana Enriquez.
