This impressive mix of images and sound from a hundred sources is masterfully associatively edited. The combination of different kinds of archive material supports this lively and diverse portrait of Lebanon.

National history isn’t taught in Lebanon and the country has no national archive. With footage from films, news broadcasts, songs, pictures, home videos etc. from the past seventy years, this film changes that. Like a personal love letter to Lebanon, an associative journey with footage demonstrates the rich history and the collective memory of the country. At times playful and loving, other times serious and loaded with suffering.

The images shown in this documentary originate from more than a hundred films, news broadcasts and videos. Even without commentary they speak for themselves and paint a rich and multifaceted image of Lebanon, connecting this documentary to the opening film of the festival, also from Lebanon.

"Een indrukwekkende archieffilm die diep in het audiovisuele geheugen van Libanon duikt en een filmische verkenning biedt van een land dat getekend is door vreugde, verzet, geweld en verlies." - Rana Atef, SeeNews
