A Ukrainian couple lives on the border with Russia as the armed conflict in the Donbas begins. Although the war is getting closer, Irka, who is several months pregnant, refuses to leave her home. As if the situation weren’t bad enough, tragedy strikes again. Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 is hit near their home and crashes. In the midst of international catastrophes, personal hardship keeps adding to a tense atmosphere.

Irka and Tolik, who are expecting a child, live in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, near the Russian border. Their home is located in the middle of a disputed area during the Donbas War. The ominous tension in their village reaches a climax when Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 is shot down by pro-Russian forces and crashes without mercy.

Meanwhile, Tolik is encouraged by his separatist friends to join their cause. This angers Irka's brother, who believes Tolik is betraying his country.

Despite the presence of military troops in the village, Irka, who is several months pregnant, refuses to leave. Instead of fleeing, she tries to make peace between her husband and her brother by asking them to help rebuild their bombed-out house together.
