Paratsu undertakes a poetic quest for her long lost father. Guided by Iranian poetry, she adventures through the Tajikistani mountains.

Paratsu is an eight-year-old girl who lives in the Shakhdara valley in the south of Tajikistan. She starts an imaginative quest for her long lost father. This way she hopes to save her beloved grandfather from death from longing. Everything involves the fate of her mother, who feels imprisoned, as the Iranian poet Forugh Farrokhzad puts it…

During its short play time, this director’s debut manages to demonstrate a layered and poetic universe. Despite the film being seen from the perspective of a child, it doesn’t shy away from serious topics, which are intelligently and boldly integrated into the story. Parastu's quest almost becomes a parable, not only about the search for father figures, but also about the power of local communities.

"A mesmerising rite-of-passage drama bolstered by poetry, picturesque landscapes and a powerful turn from its child actor." - Clarence Tsui, The Film Verdict
