Just like Panahi’s “It Was Just an Accident” or Rasoulof’s “The Seed of the Sacred Fig”, this film full of sarcasm and subtle humour is driven by frustration about the Iranian political system. The more these critical film makers are censored by the government, the more subversive their films become.

Braham is a forty-year-old film maker, whose films have never been screened in Iran. His most recent film has also not been approved. Together with Sadaf, his partner and the Vespa driving producer, he is looking for a cinema that is prepared to show the film anyway. But everyone they come across has to contend with the same government censorship and absurd, suffocating bureaucracy.

Despite the film’s very serious subject matter, it is precisely what the title suggests it to be: a delicious comedy with a protagonist that reminds you of Woody Allen, the scooter rides resemble the lighter tone of Nanni Moretti and static images that resemble Swedish film maker Roy Andersson all change each situation into a grotesque scene of absurdity.

"Ondanks de politieke urgentie is de film als komedie niet minder effectief. Het script toont de ene na de andere grap in een duizelingwekkend tempo." - Max Borg, Next Best Picture
