Lina goes in search of the stories of her Palestinian family. Apart from being a beautiful documentary, “Bye Bye Tiberias” is also a gripping film about the history of the Jewish-Palestine conflict.

Tiberias is an idyllic town that used to be in Palestine, but became a part of Israel after the war in 1948. Lina grows up in Paris but is curious about the birthplace of her Palestinian mother. Together they travel to Tiberias to meet the women in their family and to understand how drastically the Israeli occupation changed their lives.

This family story is characterised by a calm, sensitive and sometimes emotional narrative style, in an extremely relevant situation, both politically and socially. Personal videos from the family archive and black and white images create a broader context for the story. However, it is mainly the modesty of “Bye Bye Tiberias”, that makes it a strong film.
