After his time in the popular boy band Equinoccio, Billy Lozano now leads a boring life in a Mexican suburb. He’s surrounded by every comfort he could wish for and lives in the house of his dreams. Yet Billy feels like the biggest loser in the world because his latest venture has failed yet again. During the day, he takes care of his young son Leo as a stay-at-home dad, and at night he blows off steam by playing video games. To make matters worse, he also has to put up with his wife’s Chihuahua. One day, he meets his new next-door neighbor, Monica. As a longtime fan, she used to harbor an unhealthy obsession with Billy. She encourages him to revive his artistic career.
Claudia Sainte-Luce takes a playful, subtle, and humorous look at modern Mexican couples. The result is a nuanced—and, for the audience, very relatable—comedy about first-world problems. Billy and Monica must choose between conforming to or breaking with social norms and expectations.
