Two sisters travel from Kathmandu to the majestic Himalaya mountains. For Jamuna the journey is marked by a farewell: it’s the last time she will be at home before she leaves to study in Japan. During a search for a valuable plant in the mountains, Jamuna experiences the tension between her connection with her family and her desire for independence.
A documentary with a spectacular cinematography in the Himalaya and a compelling family story. Despite weighty topics, such as poverty, sacrifice, goodbyes and migration, the documentary feels digestible, thanks to the beautiful imagery of the landscape, the sincerity and love of the characters. A strong debut from French-Irish film maker Alexander Murphy.
