The extraordinary capacity of director Maya Da-Rin exposes human nature delicately in a setting of a Brazilian harbour, where a worker suffers from a mysterious fever.

When 45-year-old Justino, a Desano native working in a Brazilian harbour, receives a warning for imperfect behaviour during work, he rejects the suggested psychiatric help. He cannot, however, reject a visit from the doctor. He tells Justino he suffers from a strange fever of which they cannot figure out the cause. Justino plays it down by analysing the sickness himself as ‘a fever with a timetable’. Working is physically not hard on him, but every day he feels like a hunter with a prey, though without a purpose. After his wife passes away, Justino lives alone with his daughter, Vanessa, who will soon leave him because she got a scholarship to go study medicine in the capital. The conversations he has with his colleague of the night shift are allegorical in nature.
It is not often associative images are so polished that they make us realize our spoken language does not accommodate descriptions of our feelings and natural occurrences. This film is a tribute to honest minimalism.
