‘Karaoke’ portrays an elderly couple who after years together try to reinvent themselves, only to realise in the end that what they needed has been there all along.

Meir and Tova have it all figured out. They live in a nice apartment and every year they go on holiday to Rhodes. But for the rest, their marriage seems to be exhausted. One day, their car is blocked by a sportscar. As it turns out, it belongs to their new neighbour Itzik. To apologise, he invites them for a night of karaoke and they immediately fall for his energetic life style.

‘Karaoke’ is a classic film, only without the clichés. The rhythm is calm, with the occasional humour, drama and emotion. The actors excel in their part and every character breathes a certain ambiguity. The story would fit younger performers perfectly, but the director chose to put an elderly couple in the spotlight, portraying them from an empathic and melancholic perspective.
