Moroccan director Maryam Touzani has made a sensitive, elegant and touching film about people who learn what love is and how it can change over time.

Halim and Mina run a traditional kaftan shop in the medina of Salé, Morocco. Although on the outside they appear to be the perfect couple, they actually guard a deep secret: Halim’s homosexuality. When Mina becomes seriously ill and Halim receives a new student, questions arise about the future of their marriage and their happiness. United in love, together they look for a way to face their fears.

The film doesn’t romanticise the complications the couple has to face and that is precisely why this is a completely honest marriage story. Maryam Touzani shows that love comes in many forms. Because of the phenomenal acting performances by Saleh Bakri and the Belgian actress Lubna Azabal and because of the beautiful cinematography, this film is gripping, warm and universal.
