Years later, a mysterious murder inquiry still confuses the people involved. Memories and lies flow seamlessly into one another. Can or may the truth be revealed?

During the hot summer of 1997, Xueming repairs aircons in the South-Chinese port city of Guangzhou. After a long day and in an inattentive moment, he hits a pedestrian with his car. Panicking, Xueming gets rid of the body and flees the scene. In order to soothe his nagging conscience, he gets in touch with the victim’s widow. Will he tell her the truth?

One of this film’s most important delights is the excellent visual style. Four cameramen create a sultry pallet while carefully covering up any modern developments, in order to enhance the poverty-stricken, urban texture of the late nineties. All that in combination with an impressive production design really makes this film worth while.

I have to praise the acting. Like it was sooo damn good. No unnecessary screaming, no overacting and no boring facial expressions.
