A young prosecutor becomes entangled in a web of opposite political interests in the middle of a city suffering from an endless drought.

The young prosecutor Emre settles in a small city at the edge of the desert, where mysterious sink holes keep appearing. The city suffers from water shortage and quickly Emre becomes entangled in the opposite interests of local political parties. There are only a few people he can trust, amongst which a young journalist of a local paper.

 

‘Burning Days’ is a psychological thriller set in a town that symbolises today’s Turkey. The environment is corrupt, misogynistic, homophobic and intolerant. The protagonist is an anti-hero who isn’t so morally immaculate himself. The film caused a big controversy in Turkey, where the government declared the film to be uncut LGBTQ propaganda. The state is now demanding a restitution of the granted subsidies.
