After metro tickets became more expensive, massive protests erupted in Chile. This honest documentary shows the social change a lot of Chileans had been waiting for for years.

Because of far-reaching liberalisation, Chile is praised as a South-American economic miracle. But the gap between rich and poor is deeper than ever. In 2019, the capital Santiago significantly raised the price of metro tickets, sparking massive protests. The protest was generally supported and called for more democracy and better health care and education.

From his front row seat, director Guzmán makes a dazzling portrait of a new social movement in Chile, in which women play a prominent role. The film draws a parallel between the current events and the revolution of the sixties that led to president Salvador Allende’s election, followed by the bloody coup by Pinochet. An immersion into history!
