Two indigenous teens try to make something of their life, in spite of the difficult conditions in the reservation. This respectful film, void of any judgement, was awarded with the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

Two indigenous boys grow up in an American reservation. Bill wants to make something of his life and is determined to live the American Dream – at all cost. In the meantime, Matho is trying to become a real man. He is desperately looking for ways to gain his father’s approval, leading to some impulsive decisions.

‘War Pony’ offers an intimate look at the growing pains of the youths in an American reservation. Connected by their shared urge to belong somewhere, the main characters struggle with their identity, family and loss. The classic themes are also addressed: unemployment, alcohol and drugs, crime, child neglect. A fluent film with an unexpected wave of solidarity.

  • Caution with children up to 16 years of age

The tenderness, wisdom and instinct to survive of two teenage males is beautifully observed in actor-turned-director Riley Keough’s debut feature.
