Kids are fine

Da-yi is used to doing everything alone, since he has a sick mother and a father who always has to work. His family moves closer to the hospital where his mother is being treated, so Da-yi can go visit her every day. In this new neighbourhood and in his new school, Da-yi does not feel lonely as long as he is with his mother. He visits her every day to spend time with her. Slowly, Da-yi gets used to his new school and he gets new friends: Yu-jin and Min-ho. The more time he spends with his friends, the less he thinks about his mother. When his mother’s condition worsens, she is transferred to a hospital far away. Da-yi is worried he might never see her again, so he sets off with his friend to go visit her. On their way they realise that leaving things behind, is part of life.

The film shows us it is possible to overcome even the most difficult of hurdles, as long as you are not alone. Director Lee Ji Won takes his time to tell this delicate story, and stays close to how children see the world. With his debut, he brings us a film that can be enjoyed by the entire family.
