De 18-jarige Camilla gaat in Puglia studeren en trekt in bij haar vriendje Antonio. Dat is veel handiger dan vanuit Rome altijd op en af te reizen. Om kennis te maken met de ouders en de regio te ontdekken, reist Camilla’s vader naar Antonio’s gezin. Die wonen in een fraai landhuis en zijn vol van het goede leven op het platteland. Al gauw leidt de komst van de eigenwijze Romeinse familie tot misverstanden. Deze film met aangename en luchtige humor maar ook delicate en gevoelige momenten was in Italië een gigantisch succes.
