De Syrische Hamid maakt deel uit van een geheime groep die de voortvluchtige leiders en pionnen van het Syrische regime oppsoort en berecht. Zo maakt hij er zijn missie van om de oude bewaker te vinden uit het gevangenenkamp waar hij zelf enige tijd opgesloten zat. De man heeft immers niet alleen hem, maar honderden mensen, gefolterd.

Hamid reist door Europa langs verschillende opvangcentra voor vluchtelingen en komt in het Franse Straatsburg iemand tegen die de man zou kunnen zijn die hij zoekt. Of toch niet? Kan Hamid zijn geest helder en scherp houden, terwijl hij overspoeld wordt door wraakgevoelens uit het verleden?
