In a Beirut suburb, Lilas and Shery, both guitar players in a female metal band, struggle with their turbulent friendship, budding sexuality and limitless ambition.

While the revolution sets Beirut on fire, the year-long friendship between Lilas and Shery is showing cracks. Shery has had enough and she leaves, depriving the female metal band ‘Slave to Sirens’ of its most talented guitar player. Lilas finds herself at a crossroads: will she lead and take care of the other band members or will she find her own way?

Director Rita Baghdadi sheds a light on the endless battle the band members have to fight in order to gain recognition as a female metal band. She places Lilas’s and Shery’s personal struggles against the background of a sultry city in a loud documentary that reaches its climax with footage of the horrifying port disaster of 2020.
