‘Mediterranean Fever’ is a mix of humour, action, friendship and adventure. The film might feel a bit light-hearted sometimes, but it addresses a serious topic. Don’t miss this one!

Waleed dreams of a writing career. He struggles with depression, is frustrated by his writer’s block and does not want any contact with the outside world. The arrival of his new neighbour Jalal will change everything. The two men have nothing in common, but become good friends anyway. Jalal turns out to be a minor criminal with huge debts and Waleed decides to help him.

The critically acclaimed director Maha Haj has made a black comedy set in the Arabic middle class. The two leading actors create a strong portrait of two men who can’t be any more different, but still have special chemistry. This light-hearted film about a serious topic won the prize for Best Scenario in Cannes.
