Youssef is a writer who, up until now, has known more failures than successes. His latest, autobiographical book ‘Choc Toxique’ unexpectedly becomes a bestseller and wins an important prize. But Youssef really wants to hide this book from his parents, because he has written about his sexual experiences and his family’s provenance.
This film might be the surprise of the festival. Humor and tenderness alternate and lead to a touching, generous story. The actors give it their best and offer a look into the secrets of a migrant family in Europe. Many serious and delicate subjects shimmer through this comedy full of self-mockery.
