The most unique love story between a cloud and a man, for which you could do with an extra sense.

Manik is a lonely, middle-aged man who lives in India with his father and takes care of him. Their exchanges are limited to the bare minimum. He also executes his jobs as an official and private literature tutor with a lack of passion. He does find a connection with the dozens of plants on his roof.

Completely withdrawn, he seems to have lost his way. In his city he waters a dead tree. The images are melancholic and steeped in despair. As he walks the streets, he notices an ad high in the sky and longs for tenderness and love. When his father dies, the landlord asks him to leave the house shortly. The man refuses to recognise this and clings to what he knows, until one day a change occurs in the monotone existence of this lonely soul. A cloud appears on the horizon and follows him to his roof. Only he can see the cloud and it provokes intense emotions and associations. Life is given a new, previously unknown worth. Is it friendship or maybe passion?

This film is designed in black and white, even though the land of Hinduism, wonderful landscapes, holy animals and Bollywood seems to beg for colour. The director shows that India is not called the country of contradiction for nothing, because of its poverty, pollution and gigantic population size. ‘The Man and the Cloud’ is a film which requires an extra sense. Just like poetry, the form reaches its final shape, showing that change is the most beautiful thing in our world.

There is a very charming genre element in the film that bridges reality and fantasy in an unusual manner.
