Chronicle of Space

After the disappearance of his father, Dighu seeks refuge from his loneliness in his own imagination and diary entries.

The eight-year-old Dighu leaves the city where he used to live, together with his sister and mother, and they end up with his grandparents in a city on the Indian countryside. Not long before they left, his father disappeared and no one seems to know where he went. The adults do not answer his many questions. He really misses his father and the new environment takes some getting used to. Rivers, the sea, rain: water seems to be the only constant in his life. The introverted Dighu spends his days going to school and going on long lonely walks. He writes down his thoughts in his diary and he disappears into his own imagination more and more.

In Chronicles of Space the images and sounds, interrupted by Dighu’s diary entries, speak louder than words. Director Akshay Indikar creates an atmosphere of nostalgia and reverie in a subdued fashion. A film that is a feast for your eyes, but also for your ears, and where you yourself can get lost in thought from time to time.

‘ Chronicle of Space ’ vividly goes into a route of plunging into the sensibility of a boy sharp enough to see what is around him but unsure of the powers that govern what he sees.
