MOOOV Filmfestival and Cactus Muziekcentrum vzw are joining forces again for the fifth edition of Cult! Live. The principle is as simple as it is attractive: an artistically challenging band composes a new soundtrack to a cult film and plays it live on location.

Amenra

Amenra's intense and emotional doom and sludge metal hits the diaphragm as hard as it hits the soul. In their more than 20 years of existence, the group has grown to become the standard bearer of alternative metal and one of the largest international groups in the genre, with a devout fan base all over the world. A group that does not rest on its laurels, and is looking for alternative forms of presentation for their music and message that revolve around loss, pain, but also processing and healing. The story and philosophy of Amenra is so powerful that it moves people far beyond the niche in which the group grew up. A performance of Amenra is a jet-black ritual that both hurts and anoints and of which no one returns unmoved.

The Mirror

During a serious nervous breakdown, a man returns in his mind to the places and events of his youth. He wanders around again in the house where he spent his childhood, the place where he was born and where his father and mother lived. He also relives his special dreams of the time and romp in the snow with his first girlfriend. Looking back on his life, he doubts that he has given enough to those who have loved him so infinitely. Nostalgia, melancholy and dreams: Tarkovsky called The Mirror his most personal work. The film is a mixture of childhood memories, news images and poems by Tarkovsky's father, in which past and present intertwine.

At Cult! Live: Amenra plays The Mirror by Tarkovsky, the group's philosophy reflects that of the film in an unprecedented way. With a razor-sharp philosophical line, this evening revolves around family, spirituality and loss.
