A Hero

Asghar Farhadi

A surprising and gripping fable by a master storyteller.

Rahim is serving time in prison for not paying his debts. While being on a two-day leave, he tries to collect money and convince his creditor to drop the charges. But then his girlfriend stumbles onto a bag of gold coins. Rahim decides to return the bag to its owner. Something that instantly makes him known as an honest hero. But is everything as it seems?

Iranian director Asghar Farhadi has already won two Academy Awards for his beautiful films A Separation and The Salesman. A Hero also won him the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival. A surprising and gripping fable about the sometimes fading line between guilt and innocence, the complexity of doing the right thing and the impact social media has on our view of who would be the hero.
